It’s often been said that no news in the offseason is good news when it comes to college football programs. Most head coaches would agree as typically when they get a phone call late at night or early in the morning about a player, chances are high it’s going to involve law enforcement.

Such is the case at Coastal Carolina, where the Myrtle Beach Sun News reports that starting cornerback Preston Carey was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into a local jail around 4:15 a.m. Friday. Online records confirmed the news.

Myles White, Coastal Carolina football player suspended after criminal sexual conduct charge

Myles White The Fulmer CupMyles White, a Coastal Carolina football player has been suspended indefinitely from the team after police charged him with third degree criminal sexual conduct, university officials say.

White, 20, was arrested by police about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and is still incarcerated at J. Reuben Long Detention Center as of Wednesday morning, records show. A $5,000 bond was set.

Associate athletic director for media relations Mike Cawood said White has been suspended from the football team indefinitely, and added the football coaching staff would not have a comment on a pending legal matter.

Coastal Carolina football player arrested earlier this month

Jah-Maine Martin The Fulmer CupCONWAY, SC (WBTW) – A Coastal Carolina University football player was arrested earlier this month on weapons charges.

Jah-Maine Martin, 18 of Bucksport, SC, was arrested by the Conway Police Department on July 10.

According to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center website, Martin was charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and unlawful sale or delivery to and possession by certain persons. He was released on July 11.
