Kansas Jayhawks football receiver Chase Harrell was arrested early Sunday morning by Lawrence police on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to logs from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.

Harrell, who was fifth with 221 receiving yards and second with three receiving touchdowns for the Jayhawks last season, was released on bond, the log stated. He is scheduled to appear in Lawrence Municipal Court on March 28, according to the court, and had a previous municipal court warrant for failure to appear on a no insurance/no valid driver’s license charge issued Oct. 29.

When contacted by The Star, the KU football program said it was “aware of the situation. We are currently still collecting all the details. When that process is completed, we will have further comment.”

Fergus Connolly, Michigan football staffer suspected of drunken driving

Fergus Connolly The Fulmer CupANN ARBOR, MI – Fergus Connolly, the director of performance for the University of Michigan’s football team was arrested Monday, March 5 on suspicion of drunken driving.

Connolly, 40, of Ann Arbor was arrested about 11:50 a.m. at First and Mosley streets in Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor police Detective Lt. Matthew Lige confirmed in an email.

Connolly has not been formally charged.

John Stiegelmeier, South Dakota State coach, arrested for DUI

John Stiegelmeier The Fulmer CupBROOKINGS – South Dakota State University football coach John Stiegelmeier was arrested for DUI last month, the coach said Wednesday. Court documents say he was arrested Jan. 27.

The coach said he admits to driving under the influence and was stopped while driving from home about 11:30 p.m., going out to get food.

Stiegelmeier said he hadn’t eaten all day, was at home doing taxes and had some wine before he went out without thinking about how much he had to drink.

The arrest has not affected his employment status, and both his players and employers are aware of the arrest, he said.

Jante Boston, Idaho football player, arrested for a DUI

Jante Boston, a member of the Idaho football team, was arrested for a DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and open container around 3 a.m. Monday, according to the Idaho repository.

Boston, 20-year-old wide receiver, was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving, said Lieutenant Brannon Jordan of Latah County Sheriff Office.

Boston pleaded not guilty to three misdemeanor charges and is set to appear in court Feb. 6, according to the Idaho Repository.

“Jante’s behavior is inexcusable and disappointing,” Idaho head coach Paul Petrino said in a statement. “As a team, we discuss the dangers and ramifications of drinking and driving on a regular basis. Jante will face severe consequences both legally and internally and has cost himself the opportunity to play a full season.”

Iowa State defensive lineman, Kamilo Tongamoa, suspended following arrest

Kamilo Tongamoa The Fulmer CupIowa State defensive lineman Kamilo Tongamoa has been suspended from the team following an arrest Sunday morning.

Story County Jail and Iowa State Police officials said Tongamoa was arrested at 2:26 a.m. Sunday by ISU Police for OWI – first offense, striking an unattended vehicle, failure to have a valid license and for not having insurance.

He was transported to the Story County Jail.

Jeff Nady The Fulmer CupNevada Wolf Pack football graduate assistant Jeff Nady was arrested early Saturday morning after crashing his car into the Nugget Casino Resort, per Sparks police, and has been suspended from the team.

Nady, who is in his second season on the Nevada coaching staff, was charged with five misdemeanors and released from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office facility by Saturday night.
