Lere Oladipo booked on preliminary charge of domestic battery. Per information obtained from University of Illinois police department spokesman Patrick Wade, Oladipo, 20, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Sunday in a University of Illinois parking lot in the 100 block of East Peabody Drive.
Police initially were called by someone who heard a woman screaming and observed a man, later identified as Oladipo, forcing her into a car. The arriving officers observed that the woman had a minor injury to her lip. Oladipo was then arrested and taken to the Champaign County Jail.
Two Illinois football players charged with theft for allegedly stealing park statue
James Marchese, 21, and Drew Murtaugh, 20 admitted they relocated a steel sculpture from a Champaign park to their rooftop have been charged with theft.Both appeared Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court after having earlier been given notices to appear.
Each man was charged with a single count of theft between $500 and $10,000 for allegedly stealing a deer sculpture titled “Startled” from Scott Park in the 200 block of East Springfield Avenue on April 29.
If convicted, they face penalties ranging from probation to two to five years in prison.

Darta Lee, Zarrian Holcombe and HoJo Watkins charged with home invasion, armed robbery
Illinois football players Darta Lee, Zarrian Holcombe and Howard “HoJo” Watkins Jr. were arrested and booked in the Champaign County Jail on Wednesday morning on charges of home invasion and armed robbery.
Lee, 18, was booked at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday, and Holcombe, 19, was booked at 10:22 a.m. Both players are from Texas: Lee from Fresno, Texas, and Holcombe from Houston. Watkins, a true freshman, was booked at 10:58 a.m.
All are scheduled for an arraignment hearing 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
