East Carolina’s depth on defense took another hit when freshman Dorian Hardy, a reserve end, along with running back Tay Williams were arrested for resisting a public officer this week. They will not be active for the game against Temple, a team spokesman confirmed Wednesday night, but were not dismissed from the team.
Hardy, who has played in two out of four games and has one tackle, was removed from the travel roster for this weekend. Williams has not played this year and was already not on the travel roster.
Head coach Scottie Montgomery said Tuesday that reserve defensive backs Tim Irvin (conduct detrimental to the team) and Keyshawn Canady (seeking transfer) were no longer with the Pirates.
Hardy, an Elizabeth, N.J., native, was a highly touted prospect and verbally committed to Penn State before his recruitment got sidetracked when he reportedly was involved in a fight at Paramus (N.J.) Catholic High School. He signed with the Pirates in February.
