Demetreius Mayes The Fulmer CupDemetreius Mayes, University of Central Florida football player was arrested by campus police Tuesday on a sexual battery charge.

Demetreius Mayes, 18, is accused of raping an intoxicated person who police said he met at an off-campus party Saturday.

The victim described accepting a ride from Mayes and several other men after the party, and being taken to a room on campus by Mayes. The victim then detailed waking up later, undressed, while being penetrated by Mayes, according to an arrest affidavit.

When the victim stood up to leave, the victim said Mayes blocked the door, according to the affidavit.

“The UCF Police Department is committed to a thorough, professional investigation of all criminal incidents reported to us, and we’re dedicated to a culture of care that starts by believing the brave survivors who seek our assistance,” UCF Police Chief Carl Metzger said in a statement Wednesday. “This survivor’s well-being will continue to be a priority for our department and our university.”

Mayes is a freshman linebacker for the Knights. He played football for Miami Northwestern Senior High before committing to UCF in 2017.

Cole Garvin, South Alabama quarterback, suspended following arrest (The Fulmer Cup Offseason)

Cole Garvin The Fulmer CupSouth Alabama quarterback Cole Garvin has been suspended following an arrest on a public intoxication charge early Friday.

Garvin, who started the Jaguars’ opener this season and seven games in 2017, was booked into Mobile County Metro Jail at 4:19 a.m. Friday. According to jail records, the 22-year-old was released on bond at 8:57 a.m. and has a court date scheduled for Oct. 10.

According to a statement from the South Alabama athletic department late Friday, Garvin has been suspended until further notice for violation of team rules. The Jaguars (0-2) face Texas State (1-1) in their Sun Belt Conference opener Saturday night at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Ryan McCollum, Texas A&M football player arrested for reckless driving (The Fulmer Cup Offseason)

Ryan McCollum The Fulmer CupRyan McCollum, 20, of Spring, is also accused of evading a police officer on a bicycle who attempted to stop the sophomore offensive lineman. A Texas A&M police officer observed McCollum in a 2012 Ford pickup truck driving recklessly southbound on Throckmorton Street near Short Street.

The officer says McCollum almost struck another vehicle while driving through an area with pedestrians, then accelerated rapidly around the vehicle. As the officer attempted to catch up to the truck, employees working traffic control told the officer the truck also traveled recklessly around them on Throckmorton near Lewis Street.

The officer says he finally caught up to McCollum in traffic at the intersection of Throckmorton at George Bush Drive and activated his lights and bike horns, but the officer said McCollum accelerated quickly onto George Bush Drive after the light turned green.

Rasheed Walker, Penn State football player charged in theft (The Fulmer Cup Offseason)

Rasheed Walker The Fulmer CupRasheed Walker, a freshman offensive lineman, is charged with misdemeanor theft and receiving stolen property following an incident Sept. 11. According to the Centre Daily Times, Walker took a bike from outside the Morgan Academic Center, located near Penn State’s football building.

According to the police report, Walker admitted to taking the bike because “he did not feel like walking back to his residence building,” the Centre Daily Times wrote, quoting a police report.

Charges were filed Tuesday in Centre County. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 31.

Walker has played in two games this season, according to Penn State’s participation records.

Myller Royals, a Texas Tech football wide receiver was arrested Friday on two misdemeanor charges after a traffic stop on campus by a Tech Police Department officer. Royals was booked into the Lubbock County Jail on charges of possession of a prohibited weapon (knuckles), a Class A misdemeanor, and driving with an invalid license, a Class B misdemeanor. He bonded out of the jail on Saturday.Royals, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound freshman, has yet to play in a game this season and Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury

Iowa State expected starter De’Monte Ruth suspended for season opener (The Fulmer Cup Offseason)

Iowa State defensive back De’Monte Ruth has been suspended for the Cyclones’ first game following an arrest two days before the team’s season opener.

In a news release announcing the suspension, Iowa State said that Ruth was stopped for a traffic violation Thursday and then arrested for driving with a suspended license. Ruth was being held Friday morning in the Story County Jail.

“We have a higher standard of excellence in our program and we ask our players to put the team before their actions,” Iowa State coach Matt Campbell said in the statement.

Campbell added the suspension would last one game.

AMES — Iowa State’s campus was sent into a fright Thursday night when university police sent out an alert about four males with weapons near the Freddy Court area — campus-owned apartments.

Two charges were filed Tuesday by the Iowa State Police Department. Cyclone freshman football player Dallas Taylor-Cortez — one of the four players suspended by coach Matt Campbell last Friday — was charged with harassment, 3rd degree, a simple misdemeanor. Tyciera Whitaker-Wells, a sophomore in early childhood education, was charged with a False Report to a Public Entity.

Iowa State Police Chief Michael Newton said Taylor-Cortez used a laser pointer attached to a BB gun, “threatened, intimidated or alarmed” at least one individual and caused others to run from the area.

The other three players suspended indefinitely by Iowa State were receivers Joseph Scates and Tayvonn Kyle and cornerback Jaeveyon Morton – all true freshmen. None of them had been charged as of Tuesday.
